8218 Youth Theatre is a new amateur musical theatre company and charity based in Kingston upon Thames. The company welcomes young people aged 8 to 18 years old.
Our aim is to create an environment where young people feel comfortable, have fun and grow in confidence whilst having the opportunity to perform in the local community and other prestigious venues.
The company was set up, and is run, by Nick Wale and Julie Mills, who between them have a total of over 50 years of amateur theatre experience on stage, behind the scenes and as members of production teams. We also have a support network of parents who assist with costumes, set building and chaperoning the cast during show week.
There are no auditions to join the company and whilst many members have performed in several theatre productions we also welcome those young people who have an interest in drama / singing / dancing and want to ‘give it a go’. Dedication, enthusiasm, commitment and being a team player are the main ethos of the company.
Every member is automatically eligible to take part in the ensemble of any show we perform, those wishing to be considered for a principal or cameo role are asked to audition in front of the production team.
